Privacy
People who come to this site are asked to write down a conviction, a date of birth, and an account of the worst period of their life. You are owed a plain answer about where that goes. This is it, without the usual fog.

The short version
We collect only what an application actually needs. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers. We do not use it for advertising. We do not run trackers or analytics on this site. If you ask us to delete your file, we delete it. Everything below is the detail behind those five sentences.

The five screener questions run entirely in your browser. Choosing answers sends nothing to us and stores nothing on your device. If you close the page without submitting the application form, we never learn you were here.
If you go on to submit the application form, your screener answers are included with it — so that we are not asking you the same questions twice.
The form asks for your full legal name, date of birth, email address, phone number, state of residence, the convicting court and year, and a written account in your own words. Name, email, and state are required; the rest is optional, and an incomplete form still reaches us.
You decide how much to write. Nothing on this site requires you to describe an offense in detail, and we would rather you gave us too little at first than more than you are comfortable putting in an email.
Donations are processed by Anedot, not by this site. Your payment card details are entered on Anedot's page, travel to Anedot, and are never transmitted to or stored by us. We receive the information a donor record normally carries — name, contact details, amount, date. Anedot's own privacy policy governs what happens on their page.
Our host records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, which page was requested, and when. These are used to keep the site running and defend it against abuse.
We run no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers. Nobody is following you from this site to another one.

We use a small number of outside services to run the site. Each one is listed here with what it touches. There are no others.

If we take your case on, we share your file with the attorney retained to work on it. That is the point of the program. It happens only with your knowledge, and once an attorney represents you, your communications with them are covered by attorney-client privilege — a protection that does not extend to what you send us before then.
Material that goes into a § 925(c) application is submitted to the Department of Justice by counsel, with your authorization, as part of the application you asked us to help you build.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information for anyone else's marketing. We do not give it to data brokers, background-check companies, or list vendors. Donor names are not exchanged or rented to other organizations.
The only other circumstance in which we would disclose anything is a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal obligation. If that ever happens and the law permits us to tell you, we will.

An application to this program necessarily includes criminal history. We treat that as the sensitive material it is.
Access is limited to the staff and counsel working on your file. We do not publish applicant names. We do not use applicant stories in fundraising, press, or social media unless you have given us written permission for that specific use — and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
You may ask us to stop processing your file, return what you sent, or delete it, at any point and for any reason. You do not have to explain why.
One honest caution
Email is not a secure channel. What you send through this form travels as ordinary email, and we cannot promise the path it takes is private. Send us enough to start the conversation, not your whole life story. Once we are talking, we can arrange a safer way to move documents. If you would rather not put anything in writing at all until you have spoken to a person, write to us and say so.

If we take your case: we keep the file while the application is pending and afterward for as long as the matter may reasonably need to be reopened — a denial can be reapplied for once a presumption period expires, and the file is what makes that possible.
If we cannot help you, or you withdraw: we keep the file only long enough to close it out properly, then delete it. If you want it gone sooner, ask, and we will.
Donation records are kept as long as tax and charitable-reporting rules require.

This site sets no cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
One item is stored in your own browser: a note recording that you dismissed the donation prompt, so it does not reappear for seven days. It contains a date and nothing else. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Anedot's donation page and Google's font service set their own cookies under their own policies.

Write to Info@operationproofmark.org and ask us to do any of the following. We will respond within thirty days.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state law. We apply the list above to everyone regardless, because drawing lines between applicants by state would be a strange way to run this.
The site is served over HTTPS, access to applicant files is limited to the people working on them, and we keep the number of services touching your data small on purpose. No organization can promise perfect security, and we are not going to be the first to claim it.
This program serves adults. The site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it.
If we change it, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.

Before you go
The first public window opens November 4, 2026 and closes at 5,000 applications. Whether someone who qualifies makes that number comes down to whether their file was ready — and that comes down to money.
$30 covers one applicant’s federal filing fee. $150 covers a complete certified records file. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
